Holiday Greetings from the Albert County Historical Society

1935 Silver Jubilee Library with festive decorations and lights - beautiful at night!

On behalf of the Albert County Historical Society and Museum, I extend grateful thanks for the support received during the past year from the ACHS Board of Directors, Society Members, Museum Manager, Community Residents, Organizations and Businesses, Volunteers and the amazing Circle of Friends within Albert County and beyond. Acknowledgement is expressed to the Federal Government of Canada, the Government of New Brunswick, and the Municipality of Fundy Albert, for the support provided to ACHS for community projects supported by the New Horizons for Seniors Program, the Built Heritage Project, the Artefact Collections Management program, Heritage Exhibits, Commemorative Events and the Community Investment Fund. As well, sincere thanks to staff in the government departments who provided their expertise or assistance. All ACHS programs and project initiatives that receive government support are dedicated to the preservation and celebration of the history and cultural heritage of Albert County. In addition, the government support received for the Employment of Seasonal Museum Staff is essential for the operation of the Museum.

Grateful thanks to Resurgo Place, Moncton, for generously loaning and setting up the Albertosaurus exhibit at the Albert County Museum for the 2024 season! “Albert” created great excitement for all visitors! The Museum is very pleased to announce that “Albert” will be on loan again from Resurgo Place for the 2025 season!

ACHS extends ‘thank you’ to the Town of Riverview for providing an opportunity for the ACHS Heritage Committee to participate in the Riverview Carnival in February 2024 by organizing an afternoon “Sweetheart Valentine Social” in the Town Hall with activities, fun contests and refreshments. Also, the “AC 175” heritage photo exhibit from the Albert County Museum has been on display several times for visitors to enjoy in the foyer of the Town Hall. It will be on display there again during the month of February, 2025.

Appreciative thanks is extended to “Character Matters” professional actors, Tom Daley and Shawn McCarthy, for their collaborative partnership with ACHS Heritage Projects Committee and the participating Community Seniors who contributed the historical information used in writing the authentic script for the Heritage Drama performance, “Tall Trees and Fresh Fields”. This “New Horizons for Seniors” entertaining drama project shared the past history of lumbering in Albert County, and also provided the community residents who attended the performances, the “new experience” of a professional live-theatre performance!

Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas! As you celebrate the joys of the season, may your Christmas be filled with warmth, love and cherished moments with your family and those close to you. “May the sparkle of the season brighten every corner of your life.” Christmas Blessings! Dawne McLean, President, ACHS
