In the Beginning

In 1845 Albert County was separated from Westmoreland County and Hopewell Cape was chosen as the Shiretown, or capital, of the county.

The models depict sections of Hopewell Cape circa 1900.  The map on the wall indicates the sections for the models.  The center model depicts where we are now and includes the original Court House and the Gaol as only one story.  Model 1 includes the home where R.B. Bennett lived from birth to age 12.  Model 3 includes the Bennett Homestead where R.B. lived with his family from age 12 to 16.
