Albert County Museum Season Opening & Heritage Talk on Saturday, May 22 at 2pm

Albert County Museum Officially Opens the 2021 Season with new “Grindstone Island” Exhibit and Heritage Presentation taking place on Saturday, May 22nd at 2pm in the Hopewell Cape Community Hall.

The Albert County Historical Society invites you to the Opening Weekend of the Albert County Museum on Saturday, May 22nd through Monday, Sunday, May 24th.  We will then be open daily from 9:30 to 5:30 seven days per week until the end of September. The museum is excited to showcase a new exhibit on “Grindstone Island”, which features heritage photos taken on Grindstone Island by Hugh Wright, lightkeeper from 1939-1950, as well as photos of Wainwright “Pappy” Weston, the last Grindstone lightkeeper (1950-1970) and his family who lived on the island.

On Saturday, May 22 at 2:00pm, join a special presentation, “The History of Grindstone Island and its Lighthouse” with a photo slideshow taking place in the Community Hall.  Guests will be members of the Weston and Russell families, the last two lightkeeper families to live on Grindstone Island, who will share their personal stories and memories.  Light refreshments will be served (50 people maximum).  Attendance is by donation or admission to the Albert County Museum. 3940 Route 114 in Hopewell Cape, NB.
